[Historical Note: When the Chickasaws sold their land in Mississippi as part of their removal to Indian Territory, many Chickasaw, usually full-bloods, were deemed to have insufficient education to handle their proceeds from the sales. Their proceeds were therefore placed in trust funds to be paid out over a period of time in small increments. By 1889 there were still sums remaining in these trust accounts and in pending dissolution of the tribe efforts were made to locate any heirs of these "incompetents' so that the trust funds could be closed out.]
