"Katie O'Brien, an Indian woman, came to Russett in 1904 with her two sons. They had been alloted several hundred acres of land and Russett was on her land. She wanted the town moved. So she laid out a town-site, (south of the old highway 70, where the present Baptist Church stands). Most people bought lots and moved then. THe business men moved their businesses and houses and continued to operate there for years. Every thing is gone now but the Baptist Church, but they still have services every Sunday."
