School: school unknown.⁽⁸⁶⁷⁾ In a letter from Benjamin Reynolds, Chickasaw Indian Agent, to Elbert Herring, dated 9 JAN 1835, Reynolds stated that he has dispatched James W. Henderson with 10 boys for the Choctaw Academy. One was John B. Love, age about 14 years, who could read and write.

He was listed as a resident in the census report in Choctaw Academy, Scott Co., KY, 1 APR 1836.⁽⁸⁶⁸⁾ According to conflicting evidence, he married Narcisso Love in Marshall Co., MS, 5 AUG 1841.⁽⁸⁶⁹⁾
