"Samuel Seeley, alias Isaac Albertson was conspicous among the Chickasaw chiefs. Seeley, alias Albertson, lived not far from Holly Springs, Marshall County, Mississippi." (from "Chickasaw Chiefs and Prominent Men").
Henry Warren the author of the above statement does not provide us with any clue as to where he got the information that Isaac Albertson was an alias for Samuel Seeley [Sealy]. Don Martini in "Southeastern Indian Notebook", states that there was a trader to the Chickasaw Nation in 1750 named Benjamin Sealy, who apparently left two sons, Thomas and Samuel. He states, "Missionary Joseph Bullen met Samuel Sealy in 1800, noting that he was 'a halfbreed, and a considerable personage among the Indians...he can speak English'. From 1815 to 1837, he was one of the four Chickasaw district chiefs in Mississippi. Known also as Munro Tullie, he apparently died right before or during removal and was succeeded by Isaac Albertson as district chief."
Thus it would seem that Samuel Sealy and Isaac Albertson were two different people. Unless for some here-to-fore undiscovered reason Sealy suddenly felt the need to change his name, Warren's statement raises more questions than it does answers.
Don Martini, and others state that Alberson's parentage is a mystery.
