Levi's will was probated in Monroe Co., MS, 24 NOV 1835.(100) Levi Colbert died soon after the Chickasaw Treaty of 1834 was signed. He had served with the United States troops under General Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans and had long been recognized as a councilor by his people, the Chickasaw.

"Levi Colbert had 12 sons and 8 daughters." This statement is now known to be untrue, as it appears there were more children, and the posibility that there were more than three wives.
