She married twice. She married Samuel Mitchell in Chickasaw Nation, MS, circa 1807.(167) (Samuel Mitchell is #3090.) Samuel was born in TN?, 13 APR 1765.(168) Samuel(169) was the son of Joab Mitchell and Mary Henderson. Samuel died circa 1811.(170) Conflicting evidence states that Samuel was born 30 SEP 1766.(171) Samuel's occupation: Choctaw/Chickasaw Agent in MS, 1797-1806.(172) He became engaged to Margaret 'Peggy' Allen in Chickasaw Nation, MS, circa 1804.(173) "He [Samuel Mitchell] proposed and was promptly turned down [by Peggy Allen]. He carried his suit to her grandmother, a dominating dowager Colbert. The old lady considered it an excellent match. Pre-emptorily se sent Peggy off to the agency where Mitchell presided with a string od well-loaded packhorses and ten Negro slaves as her dowry.

"The lovely Peggy, whose mother had been only one-eight part Indian, was as determined as her grandmother. She made the trip to Mitchell's house. That was as far as she would go. She stubbornly refused him, saying, according to Claiborne, that she 'would never marry a drinking man white or Indian.'" This is the same Samuel Mitchell who "wooed" Chickasaw Margaret "Peggy" Allen, but she refused to marry him. She married instead Simon Burney.

Notes from the 1847 book, "Mitchell Family Records": "Samuel Mitchell, son of Joab and Mary Mitchell was a lawyer and early settler of Tenn. He was appointed by Thomas Jefferson, Pres., Agent of the Chickasaw and Choctaw nation of Indians, which post he held up to the time of his death."

She married John B. (Basset? Bailey?) Moore in MS, after 1812.(174) (John B. (Basset? Bailey?) Moore is #1024.) John was born in LA, 1782.(175) John(176) was the son of John Moore and white wife. John died Spring 1840 in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS, at 57 years of age.(177) He made a will in Marshall Co., MS, 26 SEP 1839. John's will was probated in Holly Springs, Marshall Co., MS, 24 JUN 1840.(178)

She was listed as a resident in the census report in Chickasaw Nation, 1818.(179) Delilah immigrated, DEC 1842. Destination: Chickasaw Dist, Choctaw Nation.(180)
