John died 4 AUG 1972 in TX, at 75 years of age.⁽⁹⁹²⁰⁾ His body was interred AUG 1972 in Lubbock, Lubbock Co., TX.⁽⁹⁹²¹⁾

He married Alma Maude Burgett in Marshall Co., OK, 9 DEC 1915.⁽⁹⁹²²⁾ (Alma Maude Burgett is #20901.) Alma was born 13 FEB 1901.⁽⁹⁹²³⁾ Alma⁽⁹⁹²⁴⁾ was the daughter of John Samuel Burgett and Lillie Evalee Wray. She had older and younger brothers and sisters.

John enrolled in Linn, Panola Co., Chickasaw Nation, IT for the Dawes Chickasaw Roll on 10 OCT 1898 and appears on Dawes card number 1092.⁽⁹⁹²⁵⁾ He was listed as a resident in the census report in Chickasaw Nation, IT, 5 JUL 1900. He was not originally named "John", but adopted the name, after his father, and was often called "J.D."
